My name is Ashley Lekwauwa (Lehk-WAH-WAH). I’m a People Operations consultant based in Brooklyn, NY. I specialize in building people functions from the ground up and coaching leaders on their pressing people issues. I enjoy partnering with organizations (in person and remotely) that want to prioritize getting people operations right but aren’t quite ready for a full-time HR leader.

Through the lens of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, I design and implement compliant and context-specific solutions.

  • I provide fractional HR leadership to companies not quite ready for a full time senior HR hire. I will conduct an HR gap analysis and learn about your company’s strategic vision to develop and implement an HR roadmap for the next 6-12 months.

  • Developing policies and processes that are relevant and compliant to your organization is hard work. I will assess any existing policies and processes and develop policies and processes that are right-sized and based on HR best practices.

  • The labor and employment landscape is constantly evolving and rife with landmines. I will conduct a compliance audit and provide recommendations on how to meet and maintain compliance standards.

  • Effective, efficient, and inclusive hiring is a top priority for many orgs. I will optimize and/or develop your recruitment processes and systems to dazzle candidates, engage hiring managers, and promote diversity and inclusion.

  • Your organization is in a season needing to hire new team members quickly but you aren’t quite ready to bring on a full-time recruiter. I will add additional capacity to your team for your growth spurt.

  • People are your greatest asset (and expense). So it’s imperative for leaders and employees to understand the “how” and “why” behind compensation decisions. I will learn the needs of your organization and design a total rewards strategy that is equity-driven and context-specific.

  • Payroll administration and benefits management is critical to your people operations but can be a headache. I will lead the needs assessment, evaluation, selection, and implementation of the PEO right for your people and business.

How I Work

Fractional Engagements

As a fractional People Operations leader, I function as an extension of your leadership team in an interim capacity for a flat monthly fee and at a fraction of what it would cost to hire a full-time leader.

Project Based Engagements

For organizations with a scoped HR priority, I lead the execution of a project and partner with stakeholders as needed. My past projects have included PEO implementation, compensation strategy design, performance reviews, and employee handbooks.

Advisory Engagements

I provide on-demand advice, coaching, and thought partnership across a broad range of HR topics for organizations with the internal capacity to execute HR day to day but lack the experience needed to drive strategy.
